Fierce flames consume the trees.
Smoke billows in the sky. Engulfed by fire, animals try to flee. Farmers setting forests aflame, Making way for pastures. Our desire to eat meat, Is choking the “lungs” of our planet. But cattle are of little concern, When we are gasping for air.

Ah,
It is here We find ourselves. We are but a tiny twig On the immense tree of life And yet our minuscule branch Has been the cause of so much Invasion Pollution Demolition Annihilation Destruction Eradication Desecration Subjugation Extermination Contamination. A billion pounds of fishing net
Abandoned in our oceans. Creating Tainted tides of trash Waves of wretched waste Entangling, Entrapping Ensnaring Endangering Life. Defenseless Destablizing Deteriorating Destroying Death. https://www.sfgate.com/news/science/article/Crew-fishes-40-tons-of-plastic-trash-out-of-14058773.php?utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_source=facebook.com&fbclid=IwAR0sEkji4yHY8eLVCRXOIuzskdwyaal5hfswuu1QJfgC3g7FAf1IpjPqyWM I run my hand
across the ripples In the bark. Feel the fuzzy moss between my fingers As I pluck a wad of gum Off its branch. A candybar wrapper At its base. Beauty betrayed. On my walk today, I came across a tall evergreen tree on the trail. I stopped and felt her wet bark, a white wad of gum stuck to her and as I looked down a 3 Musketeers bar lay near my feet. Surreal cerulean seas
Speckled with white waves Look closer Sage stained seaweed Sways in the salty water Look closer Ivory bleached reefs Barren and abandoned Look closer Prolific profusion of plastic Litter the ocean floor Look closer Carcasses abound. Too close. Marbled clouds speckle the sky.
The balmy sweet breeze Drips like syrup from my body. The osprey hovers overhead . . . Waiting …Watching ….Wistful. The river ripples across my toes Dispersed around my feet . . . plastic pieces . . . shattered glass . . . bottle caps. Nature’s artistry sabotaged By man’s arrogance. We destroy our lands
Pollute our water. Extract Frack Ransack Leaving nothing behind Decimated forests. Sterile Feral Peril Unable to breath The toxin filled air. Gasp Grasp ‘Til at last We die. “Freedom gas for everyone!
Freedom gas the cure! Freedom gas our savior! Freedom gas fervour!" “Everyone needs freedom gas It’s the greatest in the land!” ‘Cuz everything is better The less you understand. Rebranding what is toxic Renaming harmful smoke In hopes that we can sell it So business won’t go broke. ‘Cuz no one really wants it They’ve found a better way But we’re trying something different In hopes that we may sway. We won’t be free at all When our air is too polluted And the dangers that occur When facts get convoluted. Our planet will continue To get hotter every year Let’s use renewable power To save our green blue sphere. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/freedom-gas-us-energy-department-refers-to-natural-gas-as-freedom-gas-in-new-press-release/ Plastic in their bellies
And wrapped around their necks. Polluting all our oceans Causing dangerous effects. A million pounds dumped every hour It won’t ever go away. Eaten by marine life Deadly destiny doomsday. Murdering the animals With plastic bags and straws. The convenience of its use But the crisis that it cause. It’s time to make a change. Decide to make a difference. Stop buying all the plastic. Give Earth respect and reverence. As we continue down this path We observe Mother Nature’s wrath. Her body is ravaged As we annihilate and damage All that she is All that she was All that she could be. We tear her apart And rip open her heart. We pollute her seas Unable to breathe She screams from beneath And erupts. Hurricanes explode Earthquakes unfold A site to behold. Mother! Oh please! We’ve got no where to flee. Destined to be Planetary refugees. Government’s no longer,
What it used to be. Intelligence and logic, Are now a scarcity. Politics for profit. Big business runs the land. A powerful partnership, Now go hand in hand. Missing is democracy, A land ruled by its people. Where everyone’s considered, Not only free but equal. Corporate corruption, And their powerful agenda, Polluting sacred soil, With misleading propaganda. Politicians getting money, That is financed by the PACs. There’s no interest for the truth, Or scientific facts. Fear and fake news guide, Our lost democracy. The righteous and the pious, Of this grand hypocrisy. When God declared that man,
Should have “dominion” over earth, He understood it’s value, Of its resources and their worth. We weren’t meant to control it, Or annihilate its dwellers. But rather to protect it, For ALL it’s global members. Healthy forests for fresh air, Clear oceans to explore. Only using what we need, And never taking more. Protect it from pollution, Corruption, and depletion. Preservation our objective, Saving Earth, our major mission. We must make clear “dominion”, is correct in our distinction. As to assuredly avoid, A global mass extinction. As we begin to create change, Before it is too late. So we correctly comprehend, Genesis 1: verse 28. Where will we go,
When we have no home. Stuck on this ball, Cold and alone. We truly knew better, But refused to act. Not from the knowledge, But action we lacked. “Too late” we all said, Without even trying. So we sat and watched, As our planet lay dying. |
