Everyone is leaving
I’ll be left here all alone. Convicted, sentenced, imprisoned, They’ve found a loving home. They say that I am next, They say I don’t have long. But they must be confused ‘Cuz I know that they are wrong. Everybody loves me I know this to be true I share my worldly wisdom In earnest hatred that I spew. My friends grow by the minute Comrade Putin tops my list And don’t forget ol’ “Rocket Man” We’d have a 3-way tryst. My buddies are the best I just don’t know why they go The lawyers come, The lawsuits fly, And out the door they blow. Resigning left and right I hate to see them leave. They are jumping overboard As I remain to grieve. Now as my ship is sinking And I am left to ponder Why no one wants to work with me ‘Cuz it’s really quite an honor. And the list just keeps growing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Trump_administration_dismissals_and_resignations I wake up every morning
And listen to the news Discovering which words Trump continues to misuse. His favorite seems to be Council vs counsel. Will he get it right today? It really is quite doubtful. And even poor Melania He spelled her name wrong too. Melanie is close enough When you clearly have no clue. And now that Scott is free And Twitter is in tatters. “No challenge is to great” Except for proper English grammar. Unpresidented Unprecedented Who really knows the difference? When everything from out his mouth Is 100% pure gibberish. Incompetent in writing. Incoherent in his speech. But Trump will be remembered For creating “lasting peach.” https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-typos-spelling-tweets-unpresidented-2017-4#no-challenge-is-to-great-7 "Build the Wall!”
We hear them call Eager enthrall A wall to install Lack wherewithal Ladder protocol Orange neanderthal Political overhaul I need alcohol. “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
We hear them scream and yell These “swallowers of slogans” As would claim the great Orwell. “The human soundtrack” chanting “LOCK HER UP” and “BUILD THE WALL!” Never thinking what they’re saying Is propaganda protocol. “Unquestioning devoted drudges” Just along for the joy ride When “ignorance is strength” Full of patriotic pride. Don’t believe the bad “FAKE NEWS!” They lie and are corrupt It’s just a massive “WITCH HUNT!” Democrats have made it up. He’ll “DRAIN THE SWAMP!” He’ll “BUILD THE WALL” He’ll do it all, you’ll see! Because thinking is a crime With a lifelong penalty. As I read “1984” by George Orwell, many aspects of his story were quite applicable to today’s political rhetoric. Certain phrases caught my attention “swallowers of slogans”, “the human soundtrack”, “ignorance is strength”, “unquestioning devoted drudges” and “thought crime”, that I felt compelled to write a poem about it. I’m the helpless victim
It’s all Obama’s fault Or the democrats or Hillary Unamerican assault. I point my finger outward And shake it up and down. I watch Fox News and tweet and tweet Emoji face with frown. Everyone is lying My lawyer most of all. Recorded conversations And even our phone calls. Don’t believe a word they say They’re all a bunch of liars Just turn your head and look away While Putin and I conspire Believe me ‘cuz I say it’s true That’s all you need to know. Ignore the nose upon my face As it persists to grow. The faithful are the ones
Who abolished civil rights The President confirmed it This really should suffice. From separating children And locking them in cages Ensuring inequality For women and their wages. For those who seek our help We’ll build a bigger wall And if you are a Muslim There’s no entering at all The Bible touts forgiveness And loving one another But also stoning children If they disrespect their mother I guess it all comes down To which verse they choose to cite To guide us and our principles As they abolish civil rights. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/02/07/trump-lauded-abolition-civil-rights-his-gaffe-did-not-go-unnoticed/?utm_term=.7c52cebb161e |
